Otter
Lake Provincial Park is 73 hectares of beautiful parkland.
To the
west is the Cascade Mountain Range where impressive canyons with clear
streams flowing through them wind their way through the landscape. The
surrounding area is home to a wide variety of wildlife
including otters, beavers, deer, mountain goats, grizzly bears and cougars.
Nearby
are the communities of Tulameen and Coalmont, an area full of mining
history and pioneer legend. Indians once used this as a base camp for
hunting and trapping and the old Hudson's Bay Company's fur brigade's
routes passed through the town. The name Tulameen is an Indian name
referring to the red earth (ochre) of the surrounding area.
LOCATION
Turn
off of Highway 5A at Princeton
onto road #224 towards Tulameen. Follow the paved road 32 km from
the main highway junction to the entrance of the park.
